The Winter 2019 DBM In Full Focus report – an insight into Australian business confidence compiled from our Business Financial Services Monitor (BFSM) – shows positive sentiment among businesses is continuing to decline.
The March, April and May results this year progressively became the lowest since we introduced the Business Sentiment Index in 2014.
Businesses are now far less likely to forecast an increase in revenue in the next 12 months (down from 52% in May 2018 to 41% in May 2019) and also less likely to think they will be increasing the size of their workforce (down from 19% to 14%).
